EMC Vies For Bigger Role In IT Resource Management

Thanks for coming back! While here, you may want our Free Whitepaper.

While EMC World 2009 is all said and done,  news about the company just keeps getting better and more interesting.

Take, for instance, the big headline last week: EMC Snaps Up Configuresoft. The buzz factor from that headline was magnified on Twitter, so much in fact that if I saw one more RT about it, I thought my head would explode.

True, the news is big. The acquisition would put Configuresoft under EMC’s wing inside its Resource Management Software group. The deal also bolsters EMC’s position in the IT market. EMC hopes that the deal will improve its offerings on the management side, covering storage, networks, servers and applications and enable customers to automate visibility and control across physical and virtual data centers.

And they’ve already have a head start in the market.

Configuresoft and EMC together produced and released EMC Server Configuration Manager and EMC Configuration Analystics Manager last year. According to EMC,  both tools enable customers to achieve and maintain continuous operational, regulatory, and security compliance across their data centres. The products can detect, prioritize and correct configuration compliance issues.

As for numbers - well, EMC is being tight-lipped about just how much this business deal will cost.

Put it this way though - this is EMC’s first big acquisition since the company purchased storage hardware vendor Iomega for $213m.

The IT resource management market is about get bigger and little more powerful folks.

Are you ready?

I know Tek-Tools Sofware is.

I have no doubt that they know EMC is trying to give their Profiler - a leading IT resource management software solution -  a run for its money.
