Tek-Tools Software has just received word that we have been placed in the “Challengers” quadrant in the Magic Quadrant for storage resource management (SRM) and SAN management software reports.

The Magic Quadrant, for those who don’t know, is a graphical representation of the marketplace based on a specific time frame. Led by technology research company Gartner, Inc., the graph shows analysis of how certain vendors measure against criteria for that marketplace.  The whole Magic Quadrant is divided into, of course, four quads: Challengers, Leader, Visionaries, Niche Players.

Today, Tek-Tools is among the “Challengers” - meaning our vision is strong and building momentum in the SRM and SAN monitoring market. This new designation is based on a recent report, conducted by Gartner, which indicated that in the past 6-to-12 months the ability to report and correlate storage used by server virtualization solutions and hypervisors was added to the most SRM products.

Ken Barth, president and CEO, Tek-Tools said, “ This is a “significant requirement recognized by the SRM vendors, because server virtualization solutions and projects often reduced storage visibility, management, utilization and subsequently increased storage costs. Therefore, customers demanded hypervisor support from their SRM vendors to reduce costs by improving storage manageability and use in virtualized server environments.”

“We appreciate Gartner’s recognition and I believe it is based on our hard work to stay ahead of the competition with a solution that addresses customers’ continually developing requirements for managing storage resources and SANs, especially as virtualization has drastically changed those requirements,” also said Barth. “We look forward to continuing to support our customers as game-changing technologies like virtualization take hold in the enterprise.”

Obviously all of us here at Tek-Tools Software see the value in the Magic Quadrant. After all, we’re following in the footsteps of other successfull “Challengers” like: Dimension Data, Orange Business Services, and T-systems.

Yes, the future is bright. Very bright.
