Profiler for VMWare
How do you manage your storage when your applications are playing hide and seek?

Virtualization software frees operating systems from underlying computer hardware, so one physical server can host multiple operating systems, multiple versions of those operating systems, map to limitless external data stores, and offer an endless variety of applications. The benefit of virtualization is a dynamic and flexible data center. There's a catch, of course: If management isn't your strong suit, VMs can spiral out of control and put data at risk.

With VMs being reallocated and reprovisioned on the fly continuously, networks are impacted, necessitating a tool that can provide visibility. Tek-Tools Profiler for VMware provides agentless, cross domain visibility, management, and intelligence from applications through servers, network, and storage. Profiler allows organizations to reclaim the visibility into their IT environments that was lost when OSs were decoupled from physical servers via virtualization. Profiler enables users to visualize and manage both physical and virtual systems from a single console, using a unified view of the entire environment, to track and respond to utilization of physical resources and offer predictive alerting.

Profiler for VMware agentless architecture extends Profiler's end-to-end monitoring and reporting of storage, data protection, servers, and applications into the virtualized infrastructure.
Virtualization increases management complexity. The deployment of server virtualization has led to the creation of multiple, heterogeneous, server virtualization environments within a single IT infrastructure, and led organizations to increasingly rely on networked storage due to the mobility of VMs between physical servers. Management and visibility issues come with heterogeneity. Organizations with heterogeneous server environments experience server sprawl, configuration workload changes, difficulties in reporting, and staff skill set limitations.

Profiler's robust monitoring and reporting capabilities enhance control over VMware environments. Profiler enables users to maximize availability, track system configurations, and manage the utilization of system components such as processor, memory, and hard disks, helping lower costs and increase IT agility. Profiler is designed to be tailored to the needs of any size business, and it can be integrated seamlessly into many industry-leading enterprise-management solutions.

Profiler provides a high-level view of your entire virtualized environment showing performance, storage allocation, usage, and wasted space.
Key pain points of virtualization are capacity planning and management, server consolidation, performance monitoring and reporting, forecasting and trending, and end-to-end data path mapping. These new business needs require tools that are designed to help address the needs of virtualized environments.

Profiler's intuitive user interfaces and a standards-based design contribute to ease of use and enhance the environment's ability to integrate into other environments. Capabilities are augmented by a number of simple-to-use, fully integrated modules for storage, backup, servers, and applications.

Features of Profiler for VMware include:
  • Tools for virtualizing your existing physical servers
  • Auto-discovery
  • Capacity planning
  • Performance monitoring on ESX hosts & VM guests
  • VMDK file utilization
  • Storage utilization trending & forecasting
  • Storage mapping to SAN devices (Fibre Channel switches, arrays)
  • Real-time & historical analysis
  • Alerting
